Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

Australasian Drilling Institute (ADI) offers this qualification through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway.

The RPL process recognises your existing experience gained through life or work for which you may not have obtained a formal qualification. We will work with you to identify your existing skills and assess if you can then achieve a full or partial qualification. This also helps to avoid unnecessary duplication of training, saving you time and money.

Under an RPL pathway you will be required to gather and submit valid, current (preferably under 6 months old, however
assessment of currency remains the discretion of the Assessor), authentic and sufficient evidence to demonstrate your existing
drilling knowledge and skills to meet the qualification requirements.

RPL Entry Requirements: Participants should already be employed as a Trainee Driller or Driller; or have prior drilling experience and have access to a drill site/sufficient evidence where competencies can be demonstrated and/or verified.

The expected completion timeline for this Qualification is 12 months.

ETA Blended delivery

Australasian Drilling Institute (ADI) offers this qualification through a Blended Endorsed Trainer Assessor delivery. This delivery is ideal for existing employees working for a drilling company that has an existing Partnering Agreement with ADI. It includes ADI’s online modules that cover the learning and assessment of underpinning industry knowledge such as Legislation, workplace health and safety and environmental requirements.

The second component will require a workplace Trainer Assessor who is employed by your Company and endorsed by ADI to submit and mark Competency Based Observations (CBO’s). CBO’s are completed on-the-job, consisting of a series of predetermined photos and/or videos of you demonstrating your drilling knowledge and skills to meet the qualification requirements.

The expected completion timeline for this Qualification is 12 months, however the logistics around ETA delivery can result in extended completion times.

Traineeship delivery

ADI delivers Traineeships in collaboration with Employers around Australia. ADI’s role in the process is referred to as a Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO) or Nominated Training Organisation (NTO).

Traineeships combine work with study so workers can earn while they learn. Trainees complete a nationally recognised qualification while learning valuable skills at work and under the guidance of a training organisation. Trainees can be full-time, part-time, school-based, adult or mature age. Traineeships are a good option for employers to have their employees on-the-job training formally recognised and ensure they acquire all the necessary knowledge and skills within their role.

The expected completion timeline for this Qualification is 24 months.
