RIISS00034 - Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set

Drilling Specific Industry Generic induction/recognised Standard 11. This is specific to those wishing to obtain a Generic Induction Passport. Ideal for short-term contractors who move between multiple sites or candidates working a Coal Mine Site in Queensland.

Australasian Drilling Institute is delivering a nationally recognised training program to enable you to start your career in the Mining Industry. RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set (Recognised Standard 11) is achieved by using flexible online learning and practical workshop.

This course is suitable for people wanting to work on most Queensland mine sites, you should confirm induction requirements with the site you will be working on before attending an induction to ensure the process aligns with site processes and is recognised by site. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE is required to attend this course. The Recognised Standard 11 under the QLD Coal Mining Safety & Health Act 1999 has been introduced to increase the level of basic training for QLD mine workers. Students will gain the skills, knowledge and practical experience required to work safely and efficiently on a mine site.

Student to supply Personal Protective Equipment (Lace up Safety Boots, long sleeved high visibility shirt, long pants, safety helmet, safety glasses and safety gloves).

Training Delivery

Online Learning Phase

Time frame: 6 hrs

With the support of our staff, you will receive access to our interactive online learning materials. Audio and visual components will help guide you through the theory, followed by a multiple choice assessment at the end of each subject.
 

Practical Standard 11

Time frame: 1 day

Learn your Recognised Standard 11 Surface induction, a safety requirement for gaining work in most Queensland mine sites.
 

Upon successful completion

Statement of Attainment RIISS00034 - Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set (std 11)
Verification of Competency Card

Note

*This training program requires basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.
*The refresher period for the GI coal course is five years. This means individuals can refresh their induction at the discretion of mining companies, within a five year period.
*This induction is not valid for BMA Mine Sites, however after you have completed your workbook and received your statement of attainment you can complete the BMA Bridging Program with BMA. This will allow candidates to have dual Standard 11 – Surface Inductions valid for both BMA and non-BMA sites. This process also works in reverse if you have only completed a BMA Mine Site Induction.
